Culture and Computer Science 2027

German International University, New Administrative Capital, Cairo — September 8–10, 2027

Welcome to CCS 2027

The International Conference on Culture and Computer Science brings together researchers, practitioners, curators and technologists working at the intersection of cultural heritage and computing. For three days, a single-track program creates room for sustained discussion rather than parallel sessions.

CCS 2027 is hosted by the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science at the German International University in Cairo, in the New Administrative Capital. It is the first edition of the conference held in Egypt, and the program is shaped around the region's museums, archives and digital humanities practice.

Alongside peer-reviewed full and short papers, the program includes two keynotes, a poster and demo session, a doctoral consortium, and a curated evening program at partner institutions in Cairo.

Conference topics

  • Digitisation and 3D capture of cultural artefacts
  • Virtual and augmented reality in museums
  • Digital humanities methods and tooling
  • Interactive storytelling and exhibition design
  • Machine learning for heritage collections
  • Long-term preservation and open archives
  • Accessibility and inclusive cultural access
  • Music, sound and performance technologies
  • Ethics, provenance and cultural data policy
  • Field studies and visitor experience evaluation

Travel grants for regional researchers

A limited number of grants covering travel, accommodation and part of the registration fee are available for early-career academics from the MENA region. Applications close 18 June 2027.
